Alum | Celine Urquhart

Celine Urquhart, one of our proud former students, has been dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm for two years (as 2024), performing as a dedicated member of the corps de ballet. Her time with the prestigious company has been filled with countless highlights, yet one stands out above all: the opportunity to dance solo roles.

Celine has cherished her solo performances, including her roles as one of the 3 Odalisques in Le Corsaire and, more recently, the Pas de Trois in Swan Lake. She even achieved a lifelong dream by performing as one of the 4 Little Swans—a role she had admired since she began her journey in dance. Celine describes it as a surreal experience, one that brought her full circle from her early dreams to the professional stage.

Beyond the spotlight of each performance, Celine finds immense joy in each production, seeing every one as a new chance to collaborate with renowned choreographers and repetiteurs from around the globe. To her, being a professional dancer is more than a career; it’s a way of life that doesn’t feel like work. The honor of performing in front of an audience and creating magical experiences for those who watch is something she cherishes deeply.

Dance has also allowed Celine to explore the world, introducing her to diverse cultures and beautiful cities along the way. She credits her time at McDonald College as a foundational step in her journey. It was here that her love for dance blossomed, supported by a community of peers and mentors who encouraged her passion. With their guidance, Celine transformed what began as a simple love for movement into a professional pursuit.

Today, as she performs on the grand stages of Stockholm, Celine carries the lessons and memories of her time at McDonald College with her, grateful for the support that helped shape her path.
