China Tour diary | 2018 Tianjin Festival
As part of the 2018 Tianjin International Children’s Culture & Art Festival, 22 of our students have embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to China to perform on behalf of the College. During the first week, our students took in enviable sightseeing and cultural experiences in Beijing before participating in the festival. Their local sightseeing included visits to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Beijing Zoo and retail therapy at Pearl Market.
Amongst the excitement, the locals have been fascinated by our students resulting in many photo opportunities; one in particular which resulted in gate-crashing a wedding photo with a lucky bride and groom.
After leaving Beijing, our College troupe headed to the festival in Tianjin, which takes place from Friday 27 July – 1 August. It is currently one of the largest children’s festivals in the world, showcasing students from over 40 countries with over 1500 participants.
It has been an incredible experience meeting different students from all over the world, with two performances involving the Opening Ceremony in the park, and another performance at the Cathay Future Theatre. Thank you to our staff for looking after our students during this trip, which has been described as a non-stop cultural experience. We are very proud of how our students have embraced the spirit of the festival and represented the College.
