Boarding Life: A Memorable Start to the Term
Boarding always adds that little bit of extra adjustment at the start of term. Not only do boarders have to adapt to a new school, but they also face the challenge of meeting a whole new group of people, adapting to various personalities, learning an entirely new routine and set of rules, and getting to know new supervisors and their disciplinary approaches. On top of that, there’s tackling homesickness, sleeping in unfamiliar beds, adjusting to new smells, eating different foods, and, for some, missing their pets and siblings! It can feel scary, daunting, and overwhelming, but it can also be exciting and fun.
We currently have 47 boarders, 17 of whom are brand-new to our school, and I’m delighted to report that everyone has done an outstanding job adapting this term.
It has been wonderful to see country kids learning about city living, friendship groups heading to the shops together, sunny days spent at Sydney beaches, visits to other schools, and many remarkable achievements across all streams by our boarders—we truly are a talented bunch.
The holidays will be fantastic, but we already can’t wait for everyone to come back together for Term 2.
