Rocking Term 2 in the Music Stream! Junior Showcase & Industry Day with Sophie Carter
We have continued to have a busy Term 2 in the Music Stream. In week 4, we had an early Showcase for the Junior Music Stream with a ‘Happy Days—the best of the 60s’ theme. There were some truly outstanding performances on the evening, and the Junior musicians are showing enormous progress and growing potential as performers.
As part of an Industry Day, we were so grateful to be able to spend a day with Sophie Carter from Centred Stage Performing Arts Counselling and Coaching. She ran workshops with both the junior and senior music stream students, giving guidance and assistance with things such as performance anxiety, managing nerves, dealing with rejection, self-care, and audition techniques. The workshops were very informative, and we learned so many fantastic skills in dealing with all the performance-related issues. We even learnt some more general life skills. It was a very worthwhile experience everyone, as a performer, needs to have!
We have finished off our term with the Senior Music Showcase, generously sponsored by and run in conjunction with the team at Doltone House. We played an ‘Australiana’ themed night of rocking music with three ensembles playing and singing their hearts out to a fabulous crowd. We all enjoyed the fabulous hospitality at Doltone House, and we hope the audience enjoyed the great Australian music selection!
An enormous thanks to the Music Stream staff who continue to nurture the students and their musicality, present bigger and better showcases each term, and instruct and influence them all to become the best musicians they can be.
