There’s a buzz on the dance floor

Our dance studios have been buzzing with energy as we warmly welcomed back all our returning and new dance students for another exciting year at The McDonald College! It’s heartwarming to see everyone looking well and filled with joy to be back where they belong – in the studio, ready to dance their hearts out.

Our dance stream offers a diverse range of dance genres—including Contemporary, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Ballet, and Jazz Dance—so our students have the opportunity to master a variety of styles. This versatility equips them with invaluable skills for their future careers in the industry.

Already, rehearsals have kicked off for the Senior Jazz eisteddfod group, and the anticipation is palpable as choreography begins for the upcoming High-Performance season in September. It’s a time of dedication, creativity, and hard work as our dancers prepare to showcase their talent on stage.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to announce the upcoming Dance and SCD Streams Student Choreographic Evening in Term Two, scheduled for Tuesday, June 25th, at 7 pm in the Conference Centre. This special evening provides our students with a platform to explore their own choreography, free from the pressures of competition. It’s a chance for them to unleash their creativity, experiment with movement and style, and truly shine on stage.

We can’t wait to witness the emergence of the next generation of dance luminaries during this inspiring event—whether it’s a budding Gene Kelly, Bob Fosse, Crystal Pite, Mia Michaels, or Derek Hough.
