Bustle at the Boarding House – Musicals, Music & More!
An update from Rebecca Rogers, the Head of Boarding.
Boarding life in Term 2 at this performance-centred school is always very busy. Our Musical Theatre boarders performed the major musical production of A Chorus Line. Our Music Stream boarders had an Australiana-inspired live performance at Doltone House. Our Acting Stream boarders performed in three plays. There were loads of tennis tournaments for our tennis boarders, and our Ballet boarders were busy winning eisteddfods and getting ready for their night of Nutcracker, which is the first week of term 3.
And I’m not even mentioning the fun we’ve all had at the Senior Athletic Carnival.
Moving into winter, the weather is a bit cooler, and the daylight hours are shorter, so the house entry is brightened with fairy lights, a pretend fireplace, and a warm winter feel. The kids can’t seem to get enough of baking warm brownies and cookies.
We celebrated National Boarding Week in May, and it is always fun and the perfect time to acknowledge and appreciate everyone who contributes to making the boarding experience happen. Here at The McDonald College, we have the most amazing team that extends beyond the Supervisors Dom, Jonny, Bel and Billie and includes our wonderful catering team, our housekeeper Margaret, the continuous support from our Deputy and Principal and of course, the parents at home. A massive Thank You to all so very much.
