Running like the wind
Speaking of performances, this Term we had the CDSSA and AICES Athletics Championships.
Late in August, 31 students were selected based on their results from the school secondary carnival to attend the CDSSA Athletics Championship. Out of those, 7 students qualified for the next stage. Qualification means finishing in the top three for a track event or in the top two for a field event.
Year 11, Harry Forsyth, was 17 years old boys age champion, accumulating the most points of any 17 years old boy at the carnival. He competed in 10 events on the day – 3000m, 1500m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, discus, shot put, javelin and long jump, coming first in the 3000m, 1500m, 800m, 400m and javelin.
A little later, in early September, Gabriel Goodrick, Skye Ebeyer, Harry Forsyth, Claudia Moore, Maddison Ebeyer, Ashok Singh-Otuhiva and Madison-Rose Koniseti attended AICES athletics competition. Again we saw some pretty outstanding results, with Harry Forsyth coming in 2nd in the 800m, 3rd in the 400m in the 17 years old boy age group, and Skye Ebeyer coming in 3rd in the 18 years old girls high jump.
An amazing sports performance by our athletes, a result of lots and lots of training! Nicely done!
