Celebrating Dance Excellence: Highlights from DANCE+ 2023 and More
As the curtains drew on another spectacular year of dance for our After Hours students, we find ourselves basking in the glow of artistic achievements and captivating performances. Our annual DANCE+ 2023, hosted at the prestigious NIDA Theatre on Saturday, September 16, was a dazzling showcase of talent and dedication.
Featuring a diverse array of dance genres, including Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Lyrical, Ballet, Hip Hop, and our Eisteddfod Groups, the evening was a testament to the hard work and passion our students poured into their performances. The stage came alive with energy, bringing forth the essence of each dance form and leaving the audience mesmerized.
Fast forward to Friday, November 17, where the NIDA Theatre set the stage for an enchanting “Evening of Classical Ballet 2023.” This showcase featured ballet students spanning from our youngest ballerinas to our Senior College ballet enthusiasts. Choreographers, including the talented Jane Kesby, Adrian Burnett, Josh Consandine, Sarah Minol, Natalie Kuti, Rae Edds-Gibson, and Laura Ariola, crafted performances with creative themes ranging from Christmas to Cops & Robbers to baby stars.
Notably, 114 students undertook the challenge of RAD Classical Ballet Examinations in early November. From Primary level to Advanced 2, their dedication and hard work were evident in each graceful movement. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional teachers for their tireless efforts in preparing, training, and nurturing our students to achieve their individual personal bests.
The joy of dance wasn’t limited to the older students; our youngest dancers took the spotlight in the Pre-School Presentations held at our College Conference Centre on Saturday, November 18. Bedecked in brand-new tutus and dresses, these little performers charmed the audience in their first mini-concert, creating precious memories for both the students and their proud parents.
As we bid farewell to another year of dance at The McDonald College, we express gratitude to our students, parents, and dedicated teachers who made these events possible. The passion, talent, and enthusiasm displayed have truly made 2023 a remarkable chapter in our school’s dance legacy. Here’s to the continued success and joy that dance brings to our school community! 🌟💃🎭 #DANCE+2023 #DanceLegacy
